Cumberland Elementary School offers various clubs for students to participate in throughout the school year.
Game Club
1ST & 2ND GRADERS
Students are invited to get to know each other and build upon their speaking skills. Students will choose a game to play with a teacher.
Students will develop or build upon turn taking skills, being a good buddy, and getting along with others.

1ST - 5TH GRADERS
Students will engage in running activities in fun, positive environment that will motivate them to lead a healthy lifestyle.
Students will learn about cardiovascular endurance, develop pacing, sportsmanship, and joy of participating in physical activity.

The goal would be to implement a community for the students who relate to the subject of loss (divorce, deployment, death, or trauma), to learn coping skills and be able to relate to others

3RD - 5TH GRADERS
Vocal music/performance ensemble open to ALL 3rd-5th students that supplements music curriculum and provides performance opportunities such as Maine West chorus festival, community performances, concerts, etc. This group meets 1 hour weekly during lunch and recess.

Cultural Diversity club
1ST- 5TH GRADERS
Students will engage in various activities that will promote cultural diversity through the learning of different cultures. Students in 1st-5th grade will be invited to participate during their lunch time beginning in November through February

STRiVE Playgroup
STRIVE STUDENTS
STRIVE students will join their peers once a week after school to practice play skills in various formats. This will also help students learn how to communicate with each other in a less structured setting.

Homework club
1ST - 5TH GRADERS
Homework Club will provide students with a place and time to work on homework or missed class work with the assistance of a teacher if needed. Additionally, students will be able to access technology resources to complete school assignments. The club will run from September - May on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Students will work toward designing and implementing projects that will make the school more inviting. Projects include a rock garden and seasonal painting.

4th - 5th Graders
Students are invited to come and learn dance instruction and routines. Students will be able to celebrate their love to dance and have fun with peers.

Special Olympics buddies
5TH GRADERS
Students are able to help support a peer as they learn the rules and skills of events that are experienced during Special Olympics Games.
AFTER SCHOOL

Special Education students participate in athletic skills competitions with support from coaches and peer buddies.
