Students Shine During Friday Spotlight

Spotlight Friday at Cumberland Elementary School is a weekly activity that highlights something special each student worked on that week.

Special Education Teacher Ms. Megan O'Donnell said Spotlight Friday celebrates individual accomplishments and gives classmates a chance to cheer one another on.

Some of the accomplishments could include helping a fellow classmate with something or making progress in their classwork.

Each of the students has the opportunity to go to the front of the class to share their accomplishment with their peers.

O'Donnell said the activity builds confidence, strengthens classroom community, models positive feedback and encourages students to set and work toward goals.

Families are invited to share achievements from home so we can celebrate those successes as well.

The students love the opportunity to share their work and are proud of what they accomplish on a weekly basis.
