Cougar Club Is Off to a Running Start!
Almost half of Cumberland Elementary School students (46%!) are a part of the Cougar Running Club this year!
Ms. Hamman, who runs the club, said it helps foster students' enjoyment of running, while also giving them a chance to work on goal-setting, pacing and sportsmanship.
Different grade levels run during their recess on specific days of the week.
Each student has their own popsicle stick that they carry to record each lap they complete.
Mrs. Hamman shares the names of the students who ran the most laps per grade level in the school's morning announcements.
So far this year students ran a total of 1,865 laps, which is equal to a total of 310.83 miles!
Students receive a certificate if they achieve 79 laps (Half Marathon Club) and 158 laps (Marathon Club).
Great job, Cumberland Cougars!
