In the Educational Life Skills Program at Cumberland Elementary School, communication is at the heart of everything they do.
Speech and language services are one part of the whole team approach in ensuring that all students have the tools they need to access their education.
The students in the Educational Life Skills Program use a variety of modalities including communication devices to express their wants and needs, ask for help, share a joke, or participate in classroom discussions.
Teachers, dedicated paraprofessionals, related services, and peers all play a role in supporting the incredible students to find their voice.
Speech Language Pathologist Ms. Haley Bieber said it is so fulfilling to meet families wherever they are in their communication journey.
"Every day we have the privilege of watching our students unlock a world of language and connection," Bieber said.
