Beautification Club
Cumberland
Cumberland's Beautification Club designs and implements projects to make the school more inviting.
The club meets during during lunch and recess once a week and is open to all 4th and 5th graders.
Projects they have been involved in include the creation of a rock garden and seasonal planting.
Recently teacher Julia Jensen and her mom, a U of I Master Naturalist, worked with the students to plant Grecian Windflowers around the Cumberland Elementary School sign.
The students learned the importance of planting the seeds now so they will grow better in the spring.
Nearly one thousand windflower seeds were planted at Cumberland last week!
Keep an eye out for them as they bloom this spring!
