An Hour of Coding
Cumberland
Cumberland Elementary School hosted an annual Hour of Code Event last week.
Library Media Specialist Ms. Garcia-Smith said that Hour of Code is a global movement to bring awareness to the importance of computer science.
She said it is a great way to introduce students to the world of computer science and coding in a fun, engaging and accessible way.
Some of the coding activities the students participated in included building different Minecraft levels and making animals dance on their iPad screens.
Garcia-Smith said coding builds problem-solving skills, promotes inclusivity, and empowers students, giving them the confidence to explore technology and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) careers.
